SUGGESTIONS FOR HELPING NEW TEACHERS & SCHOOLS
(without a lot of expense!)
(without a lot of expense!)
As you shop, look for marked down or sale items (wrapped candy after holiday events can be frozen). As you peruse the Dollar Tree, look through the school & office supply aisle, the toy aisle, and the baby aisle (bath puppets can be paired with books on that topic--e.g., fish puppet, to use with any book about fish or that has a fish character in the story).
Look for:
- school supplies that are on sale.
- seasonal pencils, eraser, stickers, or trinkets (spider rings, etc.) marked down after holidays.
- yard sales: books, children's games, stuffed animals
- packages of dried beans can be used for math manipulatives.
- office supplies: permanent markers, staples, paper clips, name tags, colored paper, etc.
- school supply aisle: mechanical pencils, crayons, glue or glue sticks, colored markers, colored pencils, packs of paper, folders, erasers, spiral notebooks, etc.
- bulletin board items, flash cards
- educational posters: numbers, abc's, bordette strips, etc.
